CTCC returns to the streets of Toronto for the 2015 Honda Indy Toronto

TORONTO, ON, June 10, 2015 – The Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) presented by Continental Tire is pleased to be returning to Toronto after a four year sabbatical. On June 12 & 13, CTCC competitors will take to the track for rounds five and six in the third event of the season.

All three classes, Touring, Super Touring and Grand Touring will be competing this weekend. Friday is Fan Day, and CTCC will practice at 8 a.m., followed by qualifying at 11:45 a.m. and finally, racing for Round five at 3:45 p.m. CTCC fans will have an exciting day enjoying great #CTCC racing.

CTCC fans are invited back on Saturday to meet the teams and get a free poster signed by their favorite drivers. An autograph session will take place at 2:30 p.m. in the CTCC paddock area, inside the Direct Energy Center. Round six will follow Saturday at 5:50 p.m.

Martin Crisp is leading in Touring Class, in his Mazda MX5, with 505 points, followed by Alain Lauzière in his MINI Cooper S JCW with 454 points and Paul Gravel again in a MINI Cooper S JCW with 431 points, with Karl Wittmer in his Honda Civic Si, not too far behind with 427 points. Eric Hochgeschurz, in his BMW 330i, is leading the Super Touring field with a small but respectable distance with 463 points, followed by Bob Attrell in his Hyundai Genesis Coupe with 421 points. Tom Kwok is in third place so far in his Acura CSX Type S with 401 points closely followed by Scott Nicol in his Honda Civic Si with 395 points. Glenn Chaplin is currently leading Grand Touring Class with 247 points in his Ford Mustang Boss 302. Ian Crerar follows in his Porsche 911 with 236 points just before Pascal Carré with 126 points.

The race track of the Honda Indy Toronto might be a real game changer for some of the drivers. This weekend the drivers will be racing in the streets of Toronto, rather than a traditional race track, which might be an advantage for some of the more experienced racers but very challenging for others.

"The concrete walls in Toronto can be intimidating for the uninitiated but the track has a nice rhythm to it with some great speed," exclaimed John Bondar, President of CTCC. "We are excited to be part of the Honda Indy Toronto and are looking forward to some fabulous CTCC races."
