Construction of the 2011 Honda Indy Toronto street course begins

June 1, 2011 (Toronto) – Construction crews have begun laying down block and fencing at Exhibition Place, the first step of a 39-day process that will see the grounds transformed into the Honda Indy Toronto street course. The track for the 2011 Honda Indy Toronto, which takes place July 8-10, will be built using new track infrastructure, the results of a major investment announced last year by the event’s promoters, Green Savoree Toronto, in collaboration with FedDev Ontario. Construction of the track will be completed July 7, just in time for this year’s event, which will celebrate 25 years of racing on the streets of Toronto.

The Honda Indy Toronto, Ontario’s largest annual sporting event, takes place from July 8 to 10 on the streets surrounding Exhibition Place near Lake Ontario and downtown Toronto. With 25 years of Indy car racing history in Toronto, the Honda Indy Toronto is among the most respected motorsports events in North America and features a week-long festival-like atmosphere that includes the fastest racing series on the planet, celebrity athletes, live entertainment and interactive activities.
