Honda Indy Toronto race fan donations reach $1 million for Make-A-Wish Canada® through 12 years
Generous race fans at this year’s event raised more than $100,000 with support from Honda Canada Foundation and the Ontario Honda Dealers Association.
MARKHAM, Ontario (July 17, 2023) — Race fans, Honda Canada Foundation (HCF) and the Ontario Honda Dealers Association (OHDA) came together to raise more than $100,000 for Make-A-Wish® Canada during the 2023 Honda Indy Toronto. The cumulative total raised from 12 years of event fundraising has now surpassed $1 million. Proceeds support wish granting for children living with critical illnesses. In lieu of paid admission on Fan Friday, thanks to the OHDA, attendees were encouraged to make a voluntary contribution to Make-A-Wish upon entering the grounds and all donations were double-matched by HCF.
Christian Lundgaard won the Honda Indy Toronto on Sunday, mixing sizzling speed and successful strategy for his first career NTT INDYCAR SERIES victory.
Lundgaard, 21, from Denmark, drove his No. 45 Vivid Clear Rx Honda to a 11.7893-second victory over championship leader Alex Palou in the No. 10 Journie Rewards Honda. Colton Herta finished a season-best third in the No. 26 Gainbridge Honda.
TORONTO (Saturday, July 15, 2023) - In a qualifying session full of surprises and mixed conditions, Christian Lundgaard sprung the final twist by capturing the NTT P1 Award for the Honda Indy Toronto on Saturday.
Alex Tagliani led 30 of the 35-lap race to win the Tiffany Gate Grand Prix of Toronto and his first of the 2023 season.
Starting on the pole, the No.18 St. Hubert/NTN/Qwick Wick/Genatec Chevrolet’s victory was not without contest. The No. 74 NAPA Auto Parts/Valvoline Dodge of Kevin Lacroix and the No. 27 GM Paillé of Andrew Ranger, both gave Tagliani a run for his money.
