Honda Indy Toronto grows off-track, family-friendly entertainment lineup in 2016

TORONTO, ON, June 15, 2016 – The one-month countdown to Honda Indy Toronto is on and event organizers revealed today a robust line up of off-track activities for the upcoming festival, which runs July 15-17 at Exhibition Place. With 55 per cent more interactive exhibits, activities and vendors than last year, race fans can expect more things to see and do all day than ever before.

Families will also find accessing the event a little lighter on their wallets as organizers announce that kids under 12 will be admitted free this summer, when accompanied by an adult who has purchased a ticket.

"We want to open up the Honda Indy Toronto to more people, and offering free admission to kids under 12 will help make this event more accessible for families," said Jeff Atkinson, President of Honda Indy Toronto.

This year, for the first time, Honda Indy Toronto will introduce a family-friendly Speed Zone, an area filled with activities and fast-paced fun, including interactive games, activities from Toronto's favourite sports teams, and community exhibits, to name a few.

Honda World, located at the heart of the Honda Indy Toronto street course, will continue to be a sought-after area of the track. Fan favourite activities returning this year include face painting, racing simulators, a unique photo opportunity and the chance to sign James Hinchcliffe's race suit in support of Make-A-Wish® Canada. Honda World also presents kids aged 6 to 12 the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of dirt biking with the return of the Honda Junior Red Riders program.

In a nod to the rich history of the event, Thunder Alley will return and will be an area dedicated to activations, product sales and promotional activities from event partners, food vendors and fan merchandise.

"We're trying to build up the community aspect of the event and want to make the overall experience as exciting as possible for race fans, so that the moment they arrive onsite, there is something to see and do," said Atkinson.

The full on-track schedule for 2016 Honda Indy Toronto was also revealed this week and can be viewed at www.hondaindy.com/eventschedule.

Tickets to the event are available now and start at $40 for general admission. Admission is free on July 15 for Fan Friday with a voluntary donation to Make-A-Wish Canada, thanks to the Ontario Honda Dealers Association.
