The Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto is looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers with a can-do attitude. Volunteering at the Event is a unique and fulfilling experience that offers great insight into one of the largest annual sporting events in the country. An event of this scale and scope would not be possible without the dedication and support of our fabulous volunteers. We hope you will join our team!

2024 VOLUNTEER TEAMS

CREDENTIAL CENTRE & VOLUNTEER SERVICES SUPPORT STAFF

The Credential Centre team will be situated in an indoor air-conditioned environment and volunteers here will assist the credential centre manager with the distribution of event credentials, parking and pit passes to staff, service contractors, sponsors and other qualified groups. Volunteers will also need to have an understanding of daily activities and operations within the facility in order to provide guests with accurate information following the management plan to resolve potential issues. In addition, volunteer on this team will also complete and work on other assignments and priorities depending upon identified needs of the team.

Water & Ice Team

The Water & Ice Team will be responsible for delivering case of water and ice to various volunteer locations around the track and various offices within the EnerCare Centre throughout the weekend in order to ensure that our volunteers are kept hydrated and prevent heat stroke. The team will also assist in relieving other team leads requiring extra help or coverage for breaks and providing support to areas that require “extra” volunteers for a brief period over the course of the weekend.

Ceremonies

The Ceremonies team will be responsible for assisting in a variety of functions, including the delivery of VIPs to specific locations at a precise time during pre-and post race ceremonies. Volunteers may also assist with autograph sessions, Q & As, the pre-race parade lap, and directing dignitaries to check-in for involvement during pre-race and post-race ceremonies. Volunteers will also assist with the set-up of champagne, water, trophies, backdrops, etc. The Ceremonies team will compose of individuals who are mature, and have responsible behaviour capable of coping with a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.

GRANDSTAND SEATING

Volunteers will be responsible for welcoming guests at each grandstand entrance as they arrive and directing them to their reserved seats as per their ticket. Volunteers will also assist in ensuring the safe and efficient traffic flow of guests to avoid potential accidents or confrontations, and staying alert to the build-up of lines. Volunteers must familiarize themselves with the event site layout to be able to provide proper assistance and answer guest questions accurately. In addition, volunteers will be required to regularly patrol the bottom level of each grandstand to remove any spectator blocking the view of others and report any problems within grandstands to a team leader, roamer or member of event staff.

HOSPITALITY AMBASSADOR

The Hospitality Ambassadors will be responsible for checking credentials of the various sponsors, partners, VIPS and guests for admittance to their appropriate suite based on the policies and procedures provided by Honda Indy Toronto. Volunteers will be required to regularly patrol the top and bottom levels of each suite to report any problems within the suite areas to a team leader, roamer or member of event staff. In addition, to conducting themselves in a calm, courteous and welcoming manner to ensure a level of excellence is experienced by all suite patrons.

SOCIAL MEDIA

The Media Team will be situated in an indoor air-conditioned environment and assist in uploading photos for social media use, generating on-site fan content as well as executing contests during the event weekend and any additional responsibilities as required. In addition, volunteers on this team will also be responsible for engaging with guest around the event site and conducting surveys on their experience during the event.

ACCESS CONTROL

The Access Control Team will greet and welcome guest as they arrive at the event in a courteous manner and check the authenticity of tickets as they enter the facility and provide them with any ticketing information they may need. Volunteers will also assist in checking passes and ensuring proper access credentials at other various locations throughout the event site including to the IndyCar Paddock. Other duties include; directing guests to the nearest ticket booth if they would like to buy tickets or passes onsite, explaining our food policy to anyone who brings in outside food, and conduct themselves in a calm, courteous and welcoming manner to ensure a level of excellence is experienced by all patrons.

INFORMATION SERVICES

The Information Team will be responsible for having detailed knowledge of the event, from the schedule of events to various landmarks within the circuit. Volunteers will also need to know the various on-track times, cross-over times, concert and air show times. Answer any and all questions regarding locations of concessions, merchandise, grandstands, Thunder Alley, restrooms, atms, First Aid, Lost & Found, Paddock Area, etc from patrons and vendors. Interact with spectators and guests to provide event information and direction and distribute on-site fan guides and other support series literature at various locations. In addition, to assist in contests and provide clues or small prizes to winners on the contests.

VOLUNTEER SERVICES

The Volunteer Services Team will be responsible for completing a variety of tasks, acting as runners and roamers and may be assigned to any number of areas throughout the event weekend. The volunteer room within the DEC will serve as a meeting and central spot for unassigned volunteers. The team will also assist in relieving other team leads requiring extra help or coverage for breaks, providing security access control to the roof elevator and providing support to areas that require “extra” volunteers over the course of the weekend.

FAN ACTIVITIES

The Fan Activities Team will be responsible for assisting with experiences for the Champions Club program, the Rookie Racers program, autograph sessions and various other activities throughout race weekend. They will also act as ambassadors for the race and help ensure everyone is get the most out of their Honda Indy Toronto experience.
