TORONTO, ON, July 9, 2013 – Toronto, start your engines! The Honda Indy Toronto is off to the races for 2inTO this weekend and there is no shortage of activities for fans to enjoy. To help map out your week, here is a list of what’s coming up with week as part of the festivities.

Representatives from the Honda Indy Toronto will be joined by IZOD IndyCar Series driver Scott Dixon to open the Toronto Stock Exchange on Thursday, July 11. 

The annual Racing For Kids driver visit will take place at The Hospital For Sick Children (SickKids) on Thursday, July 11. Racing For Kids representatives, IZOD IndyCar Series driver Simona de Silvestro, USF2000 drivers Scott Hargrove and Garrett Grist, along with Pro Mazda Championship drivers Anders Krohn, Spencer Pigot and Nicolas Costa will spend time with the young patients outside with the Team Pelfry show car and will visit patients in their rooms.

Representatives from the Honda Indy Toronto will hold a press conference at the Ortsbo International Media Centre on the 2nd floor of the Allstream Building at Exhibition Place to officially welcome race fans and media from around the world to the 2013 event. IZOD IndyCar Series drivers Josef Newgarden, Tristan Vautier and James Jakes will be present at the press conference and available for interviews.

Long considered the "most anticipated party of the summer", the Drivers’ Party is reborn and will be held at an exciting new venue overlooking Toronto’s beautiful waterfront at Amsterdam's newly opened BrewHouse. This party is restricted to INDYCAR drivers, event sponsors and special guests.

 

On July 11, a 2.9km portion of the Honda Indy Toronto’s street circuit at Exhibition Place will host teams as they run or walk – relay-style – along the track in support of the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. The Relay, now in its 33rd year raises money to help more kids in the community get active and healthy.

For the fourth straight year, the sights, sounds and speed of the Honda Indy Toronto will be free for fans to enjoy on Friday, July 12, 2013. Fan Friday is made possible through the generous support of the Ontario Honda Dealers Association (OHDA) and Toronto race fans. While not mandatory, fans are encouraged to make a donation to Make-A-Wish^® Canada in lieu of a ticket purchase. Fan Friday promises a full day of family-oriented activities, stunt shows, autograph sessions and gourmet food trucks, as well as the IZOD IndyCar Series qualifying for Saturday’s race.

12:30 p.m., Friday July 12 - Alex Tagliani and Make-A-Wish^® Canada photo opportunity 
Canadian IZOD IndyCar Series driver Alex Tagliani will be meeting with Make-A-Wish kids and their families in a Honda Canada hospitality suite.

 

 

Verra will talk about the Cancer Society  "Driven to Research" campaign he has just partnered with. He will be joined by a representative from the Cancer Research Society.

 

 

 

Sony Canada, an official sponsor of the Honda Indy Toronto, will feature spectacular Sony 4K Ultra-High Definition TVs and the new ActionCam which allows racers and adrenaline junkies to capture stunningly smooth video, along with other innovative products. Attendees are invited to have their photo taken and printed as a commemorative cover at the Sony booth inside the Direct Energy Centre, and meet the Toronto Sun “Grid Girls” on Saturday between 11:30am-1pm. The Honda Indy Toronto, Ontario's largest annual sporting event, takes place July 12-14 on the streets surrounding Exhibition Place near Lake Ontario and downtown Toronto. For the first time in event history, the 2013 Honda Indy Toronto will feature two INDYCAR races in one weekend, on Saturday and Sunday, for full points and prize money on both days.
