Honda Indy Toronto Revs Up a Record Audience on TSN with Most-Watched Toronto IndyCar Race in 14 Years

Toronto, ON (July 11, 2011) – As some of the world’s best open-wheel drivers sped up and down the streets of Toronto on Sunday, Canada’s Sports Leader raced to the finish line with the largest audience for the Honda Indy Toronto since 1997 and the most-watched IndyCar race ever on TSN.

Preliminary overnight data from BBM Canada confirms that an average audience of 559,000 viewers watched TSN’s live coverage of Sunday’s IZOD IndyCar race – one of the nation’s top motorsports events.

Overall, more than 1.2 million unique viewers tuned in at some point to the Honda Indy Toronto.  Audience levels peaked at 735,000 at 4:46 p.m. ET during the final laps of the race as Scotland’s Dario Franchitti survived a crash-filled event to claim the checkered flag.

The 2011 IZOD IndyCar series remains in Canada for the next race as the Edmonton Indy hits the Edmonton City Centre Airport course on Sunday, July 24 at 2 p.m. ET live on TSN and TSN MOBILE TV.
