Honda Indy begins multi-platform promotional campaign

Toronto, ON (May 26, 2010) – The Honda Indy Toronto and its sponsors expand the roll out this week of their joint marketing program to increase awareness of the event and convey the benefits customers can expect on July 16, 17 and 18. The two-month campaign will include advertisements in newspapers, radio, television, online, GO Trains and various other transit locations, lamppost banners, social media initiatives, as well as numerous special events including the annual Drivers’ Party and public celebration at Yonge and Dundas Square during race week.

Companies participating in the roll out include Green Savoree Toronto, owners of the Honda Indy Toronto, Honda, Ontario Honda Dealers Association, Budweiser, Schick, Telus, Motorola, Dr Pepper, Mattel Canada, Pizza Pizza, Delta Chelsea Hotel and the Toronto Sun, as well as the Ontario Government and Tourism Toronto. Agencies include PHD, Grip and Torchia Communications.

Presence at the retail level is a growing component of the Honda Indy Toronto promotional plan thanks to activation efforts such as the ones to be deployed by Honda, Budweiser and Dr Pepper. All three companies are offering themed promotions, point of sale materials and internal or partner incentives.

“Broad and creative activation tells us that sponsors are happy with our event attributes and business model,” said Charlie Johnstone, vice president and general manager of the Honda Indy Toronto. “In the end, it is the consumer who wins thanks to better value, access to contests, special offers and greater excitement.”

Other initiatives include: Pit Crew Girl Search (Budweiser), Media Pit Stop Challenge (Honda), autograph signing sessions (numerous sponsors) and a special event section in the Toronto Sun.

The Honda Indy Toronto airs live at 12:30 p.m. (ET) on Sunday, July 18 on ABC and TSN.
