Green Savoree Toronto, ULC, is launched

Toronto, ON (January 4, 2010) – Kim Green and Kevin Savoree, two successful businessmen from the world of professional motorsports, have launched Green Savoree Toronto, ULC, a privately-owned corporation devoted to the management of professional racing events, including the Honda Indy Toronto and Honda Grand Prix of St Petersburg.

“Open-wheel racing in North America is showing signs of momentum on all fronts, especially from an events perspective,” said Kevin Savoree. “Partners are seeing numerous benefits from their association with such a world-class motorsports event and are convinced in our collective growth potential.”

Charlie Johnstone, a motorsports veteran and promoter of the predecessors of the Honda Indy Toronto, has been named Vice President and General Manager of the Honda Indy Toronto.

“Having an event of this stature provides enormous economic benefits for the city of Toronto and province of Ontario,” said Johnstone. “Having experienced the temporary loss of the event in 2008, our government partners, sponsors and the broader community as a whole have really rallied behind the event and demonstrated a strong commitment toward the future.”

In 2008, Green and Savoree played an important role in saving open-wheel racing in Toronto by purchasing the assets of the Grand Prix Association of Toronto and earning a spot in the 2009 schedule of the newly unified IndyCar Series.
