The Verizon IndyCar Series has been just as hectic off the track since the season ended as it was on it. With an offseason filled with key moves and changes, the makeup of the 2018 driver lineup brings a new dynamic to IndyCar’s marquee series. After a flurry of activity from drivers and teams, here are a few of the big moves and remaining questions from this year’s silly season.

For the first time in over a decade, the Verizon IndyCar Series will feature an all-Canadian team lineup. Schmidt Peterson Motorsports will feature long-time friends Oakville’s James Hinchcliffe and Guelph’s Robert Wickens in their two-car operation for 2018. On Thursday at Goodwood Kartways, the two friends came together to seal the deal on IndyCar’s new Team Canada.

Oh Canada! For the first time since 2003, IndyCar racing will have an all-Canadian team when Robert Wickens lines up alongside James Hinchcliffe at Schmidt Peterson Motorsports in 2018. So who is Robert Wickens? We bring you up to speed with five fast facts about IndyCar racing’s new rookie Canuck.

Portland International Raceway, Increased Points/Prize Money in Mix

PALMETTO, Fla. (October 17, 2017) – The Mazda Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires today unveiled its 2018 calendar of events. The most effective driver development program in the world with over $3.5M in scholarships and awards on offer will continue its momentum at premier road course, street circuit and oval venues in support of the Verizon IndyCar Series.

Drivers came into the final round of the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series with no promises. In the 17th weekend of competition, any of six drivers could leave the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma with the series title. Despite a masterful win by Pagenaud, Josef Newgarden coasted home second to claim the title in his first season with Team Penske and cement himself as the shining star of IndyCar.

It’s the final race of the 2017 IndyCar season. Five drivers have a realistic chance of walking away with the championship. It’s Team Penske’s four-car armada vs Scott Dixon on this week’s edition of #TrackTalk!
